Walgreens Activates Nine COVID-19 Testing Locations Across Five States

Company continues to make progress on commitment to open 15 new sites in seven states  

Walgreens has opened nine drive-thru COVID-19 testing locations in five states, the company announced today. The activation of these locations demonstrates the company’s continued progress on its commitment to expand testing to 15 new sites in collaboration with the Administration, federal health agencies and state and local authorities.

Select Walgreens locations in Arizona, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan and Texas are now offering drive-thru testing, with Walgreens pharmacists overseeing patients’ self-administration of the COVID-19 test, using Abbott’s new ID NOW COVID-19 test.

Testing at these sites is available by appointment only, and only to individuals who meet eligibility criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In order to receive a tests individuals must first complete an online health assessment to determine eligibility available at Walgreens.com/coronavirus.
 
Walgreens expects to activate all 15 new locations that were previously announced by the end of April. Testing locations are selected in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and are planned for select hot spot markets with escalating rates of COVID-19 cases. 
 
Testing will be available at no cost to eligible individuals who meet CDC criteria. All drive-thru testing is being conducted outside and patients are instructed to not leave their vehicles. Patients will be informed of their results within 24 hours of testing.
