The greatest reward is helping patients return to doing what they love

Following a terrifying scooter accident, Vanessa McCambridge made a full recovery thanks to her CareCentrix nurse coach.

Vanessa McCambridge has always been an independent person, so when she had to use a wheelchair following a scooter accident, it was a very difficult transition—that’s where CareCentrix nurse coach Anita Martinez stepped in to help.

CareCentrix, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walgreens Boots Alliance, is an expert in home-care coordination. The company specializes in creating care plans that identify paths for care after hospitalization, and coordinating nurse coach services that individuals need to recover at home safely. McCambridge is just one of 19 million people who have their care managed through CareCentrix and a network of more than 8,000 credentialed provider locations nationwide.

McCambridge no longer needs her wheelchair to get around, thanks in no small part to Martinez. From navigating hospital discharge instructions and reviewing medications to answering questions, Martinez was there.

“She just was so vital in my recovery,” McCambridge says. “My doctors took care of my body, but Anita took care of me.”

“Knowing that you've made a difference in someone's life, that you've got them back to doing what they love to do is the greatest reward there ever is,” Martinez says.
