Johns Hopkins Medicine and Walgreens Sign Collaboration Agreement

Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) and Walgreens (NYSE, NASDAQ:WAG) today announced they have entered into a wide-ranging agreement designed to promote collaboration on population-based research and to jointly review and develop protocols to improve outcomes of patients with chronic diseases. In addition, JHM and Walgreens will together explore the development of new models for improving care for individuals. This will include the creation of new educational and training programs for Walgreens 70,000 health care service providers.

Walgreens Lends Assistance to Disaster Relief Efforts Across the Southeast

Walgreens Introduces Daily Testing for Cholesterol, Blood Glucose and A1C at More Than 1,400 Stores in 33 States and Washington, D.C.

DEERFIELD, Ill., May 2, 2011 - Further expanding the scope of convenient, preventive health care services provided by its pharmacists, Walgreens (NYSE: WAG)(NASDAQ: WAG) is now offering daily testing for total cholesterol and HDL (high-density lipoprotein), blood glucose and A1C at more than 1,400 pharmacies in 33 states, as well as Washington, D.C. Each test also includes a free blood pressure reading and personal consultation with a Walgreens pharmacist.

Gov. Quinn Promotes “Earth Month” in Illinois with Tour of Oak Park Walgreens Drugstore Using Geothermal Energy System

DEERFIELD, Ill., April 19, 2011 - As part of “Earth Month” in Illinois, Gov. Patrick Quinn today toured a Walgreens (NYSE: WAG)(NASDAQ: WAG) drugstore in Oak Park, Ill., that features the first geothermal energy system used in a chain drugstore in the country. The system, which went live when the store opened last October, has reduced the store’s expected energy usage by 60 percent.
