Get a Shot. Give a Shot® Campaign Expands for Giving Tuesday, Enabling Consumers to Double Their Support For Children Around the Globe

Today, Walgreens and the United Nations Foundation announced a special expansion of the Get a Shot. Give a Shot® program, which will double donations of life-saving vaccines in support of #GivingTuesday.   For every immunization, including flu shots, administered at a Walgreens pharmacy, Healthcare Clinic or Duane Reade pharmacy, the value of two life-saving vaccines will be donated to a child in a developing country through the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign.  This will apply to all immunizations administered at Walgreens beginning Black Friday, Nov. 27, through #GivingTuesday, Dec.  1.

Walgreens Earns Top Marks in 2016 Corporate Equality Index

Walgreens received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This marks the 10h year Walgreens has earned a perfect score from the CEI index.

Walgreens Opens Flagship Drugstore in Iconic Wrigley Building

DEERFIELD, Ill., June 24, 2014 – Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) will celebrate the opening of a new two-story, flagship drugstore in the north tower of  Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Building on Wednesday, June 25.
Assisted by 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly, representatives from the Magnificent Mile Association, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and others, Walgreens executives will mark the 27,800-square-foot store’s opening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Walgreens Donates $25,000 for Oso Mudslide Relief

DEERFIELD, Ill., April 1, 2014 – To help victims of the mudslide in Oso, Wash., and aid recovery efforts in the region, Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) today announced it will make a $25,000 contribution to the American Red Cross Oso Mudslide Relief Fund.  In addition, during the next two weeks customers shopping at any Walgreens store in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Northern Idaho will have the opportunity to make donations to the relief fund in increments of $1, $5 or $10.

Walgreens Assists Disaster Relief Efforts in Philippines with $100,000 Donation

DEERFIELD, Ill., November 14, 2013 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross in response to the devastating Typhoon Haiyan (also known as Typhoon Yolanda) that swept through the Philippines last week. These funds will be used to distribute relief items, repair and rebuild shelters, provide health care and give access to clean water and sanitation systems for those impacted by the storm.

Walgreens Expands Vaccination Availability Across More Than 200 Locations Statewide as New Indiana State Law Takes Effect

DEERFIELD, Ill., July 1, 2013 - As new state legislation takes effect today to help bring greater patient access to vaccines, Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) has significantly expanded vaccine availability at all of its 204 locations across Indiana. Pharmacists are currently authorized to provide all adolescent and adult immunizations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with a prescription. Now, five of those vaccines are available without a prescription at Walgreens pharmacies daily, with no appointment necessary. The bill was signed by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in late April.

Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS Team with Health Departments and Local AIDS Service Organizations to Provide Free HIV Testing in Support of National HIV Testing Day

DEERFIELD, Ill., June 13, 2013 – Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG), and Greater Than AIDS, a coalition of public and private sector partners united in response to the domestic AIDS epidemic, are teaming with health departments and local AIDS organizations across the country to provide FREE HIV testing in support of National HIV Testing Day, June 27.  Testing locations include nearly 175 Walgreens stores in 54 cities across 22 states.  Hundreds of additional Walgreens stores in the participating communities will help publicize the free testing through in-store marketing and other programs. Walgreens will also help promote National HIV Testing Day with special messages on June 27 on its Times Square digital display in New York City, the largest billboard of its kind in the country.

New Treatment Model for Hypertension, Type-2 Diabetes Patients to Measure Impact of Medication Management by Community Pharmacists

KEARNEY, Neb., March 20, 2013 – The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is unveiling a new treatment model to help positively impact clinical outcomes for hypertension and type-2 diabetes patients through a groundbreaking program made possible by a National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation grant.  Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) is collaborating with UNMC, Kearney Clinic, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and Nebraska Health Information Initiative,  Nebraska’s statewide health information exchange, to introduce the program.

Home Nutrition Support Team Interventions Prevent Hospitalizations, Reduce Costs for Clinical Nutrition Patients

DEERFIELD, Ill., February 11, 2013 - Home nutrition support team interventions improved patient care and potentially prevented an estimated 429 hospital days over a three-month period, according to new data presented by Walgreens Infusion Services (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) at the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) Clinical Nutrition Week meeting today in Phoenix. The cost savings of these interventions were estimated at more than $850,000.

Walgreens Donates $100,000 to New York and New Jersey Hurricane Relief Funds

DEERFIELD, Ill., Dec. 20, 2012 – Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) today announced $100,000 in additional donations to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The company, which includes Duane Reade drugstores in New York and New Jersey, is making two $50,000 contributions, one to the Empire State Relief Fund announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the other to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund established by Governor Chris Christie.
