Walgreens Donates $250,000 to American Red Cross Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts, Launches New Customer Donation Program at Stores Nationwide

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Walgreens has committed to a $250,000 donation to American Red Cross Hurricane Maria relief efforts. In addition, Walgreens customers can also donate to Red Cross hurricane relief efforts at approximately 8,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade locations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Customers can make donations at store checkout.

DEERFIELD, Ill., September 07, 2017 - More than $10 million was raised by Walgreens and Duane Reade customers nationwide for American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through donations at store checkouts. Walgreens implemented the fundraising program on Aug. 29 in the aftermath of the storm. The program ran through Sept. 4.

Walgreens Earns Best Place to Work for Disability Equality Index

DEERFIELD, Ill., August 23, 2017 - Walgreens received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Disability Equality Index (DEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to disability inclusion and workplace equality, administered by the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) and American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). This marks the first year Walgreens has earned a perfect score from the DEI index, which is now in its third year.

California Product Stewardship Council Presents Award to Walgreens for Medicine Take Back Program at 53 California Stores

SAN DIEGO, August 21, 2017 - The California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) today presented Walgreens with the 2017 Infinity Arrow Award for Service and Take Back in recognition for the company’s Safe Medication Disposal program. Walgreens Healthcare Clinics Able to Prescribe PrEP for HIV Prevention in 17 Additional Markets

DEERFIELD, Ill. – July 10, 2017 – Walgreens today announced that beginning July 13, providers at Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations in 17 new markets will be able to prescribe PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), a medication protocol for people who don’t have HIV to help proactively protect against HIV infection.  The markets include Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus (Ohio), Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Louisville, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Tucson, Washington D.C., and Wichita.
