As announced today, Walgreens Boots Alliance is planning to build on the success of five Village Medical at Walgreens clinics in the Houston area by opening 40 more locations by the end of next summer, including some in the Phoenix area starting Dec. 14. From there, we’ll be adding other clinics in the Houston and Phoenix markets, as well as El Paso and Austin, Texas, and Orlando, Fla. – the next phase in a previously announced five-year plan to open 500 to 700 Village Medical at Walgreens locations in 30 markets across the U.S.

What makes Village Medical at Walgreens so special? And why has it caught on so well in Houston?

The answer is integrated, convenient care – a combination of the expertise of a physician-led, multidisciplinary team at the clinic with that of the pharmacy team right next door at Walgreens. Patients who use Village Medical at Walgreens locations (both in person and via telehealth appointments) can enjoy a full suite of primary care services in which their Walgreens pharmacist is involved all along the way, helping to make sure they adhere to their medication regimens, which ultimately leads to better health outcomes and lower healthcare costs.

But don’t just take our word for it. Listen to Christina Lindsey Scott, a patient in Houston who was diagnosed with lupus and found exactly the kind of ongoing care and support she was looking for at Village Medical at Walgreens:
