Walgreens Opens the Nation’s First LEED Registered Drugstore in Mira Mesa, Calif.

DEERFIELD, Ill., June 24, 2009 - Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, will celebrate today the grand opening of the first drugstore nationwide to meet top environmental requirements for efficiency and design. The new store in Mira Mesa, Calif., is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards – a certification only granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Connecting for a Cause: Delaware Walgreens/Happy Harry's Drugstores Raise Nearly $40,000 for "Relay For Life"
DEERFIELD, Ill., June 19, 2009 – In an effort to increase awareness, outreach and research for cancer, Walgreens/Happy Harry’s employees hit the A. I. DuPont High School track in Greenville, Del., for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life” last Friday. Three Walgreens/Happy Harry’s districts spanning the state from Wilmington to Milford helped raise $39,000 for the cause.

Dark Drives a Message: Walgreens Turning Off Its Lights to Support Earth Hour

Walgreens Continues its Efforts to Invest in North Dakota's Future Pharmacists with Scholarships and Donations of More Than $165,000 This School Year

DEERFIELD, Ill. Oct. 29, 2008 – This school year, Walgreens announces a $10,000 donation to North Dakota State University’s College of Pharmacy to support diversity programs. It’s part of a more than $1 million donation to accredited colleges of pharmacy across the country. With this new initiative, Walgreens hopes more students will be encouraged to consider a career in the field of pharmacy. Walgreens also has 35 current educational assistance students from NDSU and is providing an additional $155,000 in financial support to these students.

Walgreens Donates More than $75,000 to Help Kids and Adults with Disabilities

PERRYSBURG, Ohio, Oct. 21, 2008 – Months of raffling, rallying and riding are paying off at the Perrysburg Distribution Center as Walgreens announces it’s raised a grand total of $77,333.68 for the 2008 Charity Choice recipient Camp Courageous, Inc. Management team and team members surpassed their goal of $30,000 making it the most successful fundraising effort yet. Walgreens corporate office in Deerfield, Ill. matched the Perrysburg amount.
