Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS Team with Health Departments and Local AIDS Service Organizations to Provide Free HIV Testing in Support of National HIV Testing Day
DEERFIELD, Ill., June 13, 2013 – Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG), and Greater Than AIDS, a coalition of public and private sector partners united in response to the domestic AIDS epidemic, are teaming with health departments and local AIDS organizations across the country to provide FREE HIV testing in support of National HIV Testing Day, June 27.  Testing locations include nearly 175 Walgreens stores in 54 cities across 22 states.  Hundreds of additional Walgreens stores in the participating communities will help publicize the free testing through in-store marketing and other programs. Walgreens will also help promote National HIV Testing Day with special messages on June 27 on its Times Square digital display in New York City, the largest billboard of its kind in the country.

Walgreens Mobilizes for Oklahoma Tornado Victims
DEERFIELD, Ill., May 22, 2013 – Responding to Monday’s devastating tornado in the Oklahoma City area, Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) this week mobilized increased shipments of essential supplies to its area stores, made an initial donation of three semi-trailers of food, water and first aid supplies to the Oklahoma chapter of the American Red Cross and offered customers an opportunity to make donations at its Oklahoma drugstores.

New Treatment Model for Hypertension, Type-2 Diabetes Patients to Measure Impact of Medication Management by Community Pharmacists
KEARNEY, Neb., March 20, 2013 – The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is unveiling a new treatment model to help positively impact clinical outcomes for hypertension and type-2 diabetes patients through a groundbreaking program made possible by a National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation grant.  Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) is collaborating with UNMC, Kearney Clinic, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and Nebraska Health Information Initiative,  Nebraska’s statewide health information exchange, to introduce the program.

Home Nutrition Support Team Interventions Prevent Hospitalizations, Reduce Costs for Clinical Nutrition Patients
DEERFIELD, Ill., February 11, 2013 - Home nutrition support team interventions improved patient care and potentially prevented an estimated 429 hospital days over a three-month period, according to new data presented by Walgreens Infusion Services (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) at the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) Clinical Nutrition Week meeting today in Phoenix. The cost savings of these interventions were estimated at more than $850,000.

Walgreens Donates $100,000 to New York and New Jersey Hurricane Relief Funds

The company, which includes Duane Reade drugstores in New York and New Jersey, is making two $50,000 contributions, one to the Empire State Relief Fund announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the other to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund established by Governor Chris Christie.

Walgreens Raises more than $4 Million for American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund

Walgreens Helps Create More Job Opportunities for People with Disabilities in Connecticut
DEERFIELD, Ill., October 24, 2012 - Nearly one year after launching an initiative to help create more job opportunities for people with disabilities in Connecticut, 62 participants have completed training under the Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) Retail Employees with Disabilities Initiative (REDI) program. The program’s goal is to prepare qualified candidates for employment at Walgreens retail locations, as well as employment with other retailers that require similar skills. Of those who completed training, 17 have already obtained jobs at Walgreens locations throughout Connecticut as the company grows talent and recognizes ability through greater diversity in the workplace.
