DEERFIELD, Ill., September 02, 2015 - Over the last two years, Walgreens has helped to provide 7 million life-saving vaccines to children in developing countries through the Get a Shot. Give a Shot® campaign, and its growing collaboration with the United Nations Foundation. Today, Get a Shot. Give a Shot kicks off its third and most comprehensive campaign, with Walgreens pledging to help provide a life-saving vaccine for every immunization administered at a Walgreens pharmacy, Healthcare Clinic or Duane Reade pharmacy between now and Aug. 31, 20161.

Walgreens and Providence Health & Services form strategic clinical collaboration to improve and coordinate patient care

DEERFIELD, Ill. & SEATTLE, August 20, 2015 - Walgreens and Providence Health & Services today announced a strategic clinical collaboration aimed at coordinating patient care and improving patient access, which plans to bring up to 25 new retail clinics to Oregon and Washington. The clinics will be owned and operated by Providence and its affiliates, and become the first to open at Walgreens stores under a new collaborative services model.

Top U.S.-Based Companies Launch the “100,000 Opportunities Initiative” to Create Pathways to Economic Opportunity for Young Americans

More than a dozen leading, U.S.-based companies today announced the formation of the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative, which has the goal of being the nation’s largest employer-led coalition committed to creating pathways to meaningful employment for America’s young people.  The coalition has the collective goal of engaging at least 100,000 Opportunity Youth – 16-24 year olds who face systemic barriers to jobs and education – by 2018 through apprenticeships, internships, training programs, and both part-time and full-time jobs. Additionally, the coalition will leverage existing collaborative efforts on the ground in a handful of cities to partner in building these pathways. The founding companies include Alaska Airlines, Cintas, CVS Health, Hilton Worldwide, HMSHost, JCPenney, JPMorgan Chase, Lyft, Macy’s, Microsoft, Porch.com, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Target, Walgreens and Walmart.

Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS Team with Health Departments and Local AIDS Service Organizations to Offer Free HIV Testing in More Than 150 Cities

DEERFIELD, Ill. & MENLO PARK, Calif., June 18, 2015 - In the lead up to National HIV Testing Day on June 27, Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS, a leading national public information response to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic, are teaming with more than 180 health departments and local AIDS service organizations (ASOs) in 150 cities across the country to offer free HIV testing. National organizations including NAACP and Black AIDS Institute will support the events by encouraging community members to know their HIV status and take advantage of free HIV testing.

Walgreens Offering Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Vaccinations Daily at All of its More Than 130 Locations Throughout Washington

DEERFIELD, Ill., May 06, 2015 - Walgreens continues to offer vaccinations that provide protection against pertussis (whooping cough) at all of its more than 130 pharmacies throughout the state, as the Washington State Department of Health is urging vaccination with the state reaching more than four times the number of reported whooping cough cases compared to the same time last year. Vaccinations are available daily during all pharmacy hours with no appointment necessary and are covered by most insurance plans.
