Walgreens Safe Medication Disposal Kiosks Now Available at Nearly 300 Pharmacies in 21 States; Initiative Leads Fight against Prescription Drug Abuse

DEERFIELD, Ill., July 25, 2016 - In the first national effort of its kind by a retailer, Walgreens has installed safe medication disposal kiosks at 288 pharmacies across 21 states and Washington D.C. Walgreens is now more than halfway toward its goal, announced in February, of installing medication disposal kiosks at 500 locations around the country.

Walgreens to Participate in U.S. Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program through The Scripps Research Institute

DEERFIELD, Ill., July 07, 2016 - Walgreens will participate in the U.S. Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI) Cohort Program through an initial $20 million grant awarded to The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The company will help support patient enrollment and participation in the program through its daily interactions with more than 8 million customers in stores, online and through its mobile app. The award will total almost $120 million over five years and is part of President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative, one of the most ambitious medical research programs in the history of American medicine aimed at revolutionizing how researchers, providers and research participants work together to develop individualized care.

Walgreens Launches Next Evolution in Paperless Coupons, Enabling Seamless Redemption and Clipping on Digital Channels

Walgreens customers now have the ability to redeem paperless coupons from Walgreens and manufacturers for online purchases, as well as in-store purchases. Additionally, offers can now be “clipped” on product detail pages and in search results on Walgreens.com, and through the Walgreens mobile app.

Walgreens Terminates Relationship with Theranos; Will Be Closing Operations at All 40 Theranos Wellness Centers in Arizona

DEERFIELD, Ill., June 12, 2016 - Walgreens today announced that it has informed Theranos that it will be terminating its relationship and closing operations at all 40 Theranos Wellness Centers at its stores in Arizona, effective immediately. This follows the company’s decision in January to halt Theranos laboratory testing services at its Palo Alto, Calif., location, and means Walgreens will no longer offer Theranos services at any of its stores.

Walgreens Makes Naloxone Available Without Requiring a Prescription in all New Mexico Pharmacies
