Walgreens to Provide Up to 30-Day Prescription Supply at No Upfront Cost for Public Health Insurance Marketplace Enrollees Who Have Not Been Assigned an Identification Number

DEERFIELD, Ill., Dec. 30, 2013 – As newly insured Americans begin using their benefits under the Affordable Care Act, Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) will provide medications to those patients who may have difficulty using their new insurance coverage because they haven't received a plan identification number yet from their insurer. In those situations, through the end of January, patients can bring confirmation of their enrollment in the public health insurance marketplace to a Walgreens pharmacy, or the pharmacy staff can check to verify eligibility, and Walgreens will assist them by providing up to a month of a traditional, brand and generic medication at no upfront cost.

Walgreens Earns Top Marks in 2014 Corporate Equality Index

 DEERFIELD, Ill., December 26, 2013 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This marks the ninth year Walgreens has earned a perfect score from the CEI index.

Walgreens Donates $100,000 to New York and New Jersey Hurricane Relief Funds

DEERFIELD, Ill., Dec. 20, 2012 – Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) today announced $100,000 in additional donations to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The company, which includes Duane Reade drugstores in New York and New Jersey, is making two $50,000 contributions, one to the Empire State Relief Fund announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the other to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund established by Governor Chris Christie.

Walgreens Raises more than $4 Million for American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund

DEERFIELD, Ill., Nov. 15, 2012 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) and the American Red Cross today announced that more than $4 million was raised by Walgreens and Duane Reade customers nationwide who made donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund since Nov. 5. Walgreens implemented the fundraising program in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy striking the East Coast.

Walgreens Collecting Red Cross Donations at Stores Across All 50 States

To help victims of Hurricane Sandy, customers shopping this week at any Walgreens or Duane Reade store in the United States will have the opportunity to make donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in increments of $1, $2, $5 or $10.
