Walgreens Nationwide Flu Shot Program Starts Oct. 1

DEERFIELD, Ill., Sept. 20, 2007 – The 14th year of Walgreens (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG) in-store flu shot program starts Oct. 1. The cost of the shot ranges from $24.99 to $30. Patients should verify insurance coverage for flu shots. The shot is available at no charge to Medicare Part B patients if they’re not members of an HMO and they present their Medicare card at the time of the shot.

Flu shots will be offered in all 48 states where Walgreens has stores. This year Walgreens pharmacists in 30 states will administer the flu shots. Residents of these states should call their local Walgreens for a flu shot appointment:

Flu shots offered at Take Care Health Clinics

Flu shots at Walgreens stores with Take Care Health Clinics will be administered by Take Care Nurse Practitioners. There are currently 46 Take Care Health Clinics inside Walgreens drugstores in Chicago, Kansas City, Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Flu shots will be offered during the clinic’s regular hours of operation seven days a week, except in select locations in Kansas City and St. Louis where all day flu clinics are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. No appointments are necessary at the Take Care Health Clinics, and most flu shot visits take about ten minutes. Flu shots cost $24.99 and may be covered by insurance. Shots are offered to patients age 9 and up, and pregnant women must have written approval from their primary care provider. Please call 1-866-TAKE-CARE for specific location information.
